Das Wiener Microdrink-Scaleup Waterdrop sorgte am Donnerstag in den USA für Aufsehen. Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte wurde auf dem berühmten Times Square in New York Tennis gespielt. Jeder, der am 24. August mitten auf dem berühmten Platz Tennis spielen wollte, hatte gestern die einmalige Gelegenheit dazu. Das Event am New Yorker Times Square markiert zudem Waterdrops Ernennung zum offiziellen Partner der ATP-Tour 2023. Mit dieser strategischen Partnerschaft will das Unternehmen “Wegbegleiter für nachhaltigere Flüssigkeitsversorgung im Tennis” werden, sowohl auf als auch neben dem Platz.
CEO Murray: Waterdrop ist nachhaltiger
„Das Tennis Match auf dem Times Square ist für uns ein Meilenstein, weil es zeigt, dass wir mit der Mission, den Plastikmüll in der Getränkeindustrie drastisch zu reduzieren, nicht alleine sind. Bei einem Verbrauch von über einer Millionen Plastikflaschen pro Minute, von denen 91 Prozent nicht recycelt werden, müssen wir dringend gegensteuern. Wir sind daher froh und stolz, mit Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz und Danielle Collins Partner und Markenbotschafter gefunden zu haben, die uns helfen, Nachhaltigkeit und die Mission „Drink More Water!“ voranzutreiben – sowohl bei den Fans, als auch in der Sportindustrie“, wird der CEO von Waterdrop, Martin Murray in einer Aussendung zitiert.

Auch berühmte Tennisspieler wie Novak Djokovic war beim gestrigen Event mit Pop-up Tennisplatz dabei. Djokovic ist nicht nur globaler Markenbotschafter, sondern auch selbst Investor bei Waterdrop. Anfang diesen Jahres investierte der Tennisstar mehrere Millionen in das Wiener Scaleup. Djokovic ist nicht der einzige Tennisspieler, mit dem Waterdrop zusammenarbeitet: Das Unternehmen unterhält auch Partnerschaften mit Danielle Collins und Taylor Fritz.
Waterdrop Hydration Station
Der Pop-up-Tennisplatz wurde am Donnerstag von 1 PM bis 8 PM Nordamerikanische Ostküsten-Sommerzeit aufgebaut. Schläger und Bälle stellte Waterdrop zur Verfügung. Die Besucher:innen konnten am Times Square bei einer eigenen “Hydration Station” die Getränke des österreichischen Scaleups verkosten. Das Tennis-Event von Waterdrop findet zeitgleich mit dem U.S. Open statt. Das berühmte Tennisturnier findet seit 1881 statt.
