Startups from all over the world

On average, each of the selected startups have nine team members and are already funded with a total of over 23 million Euros. Nine startups originate from Germany, five from the UK, four from the Czech Republic, two from Poland as well as one each from Canada, France, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Rumania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and the United States. The remaining participants are startups incorporated in Austria.

To be accepted into the accelerator program, startups had to offer disruptive solutions in the vertical fields of media, banking, insurance, industry 4.0 or energy & infrastructure. An additional layer of focus was put on the technologies of Blockchain, IoT/Big Data, Mobility/AR/VR, Cyber Security and AI & Bot. While most of the participants work on innovation in the banking sector, AI & Bot solutions are dominating the technology field.

Exceeding expectations

For the founder of weXelerate, Hassen Kirmaci and his team of 14 people, the traction over the past few months was exceeding expectations. “Applications from over 70 countries confirm the attractiveness of Vienna as a startup hub and draw attention to startups all over the world. Our multi corporate accelerator concept competes and convinces internationally through incorporation of economy and industry. Corporations and startups are collaboratively developing disruptive solutions and businesses through open innovation. We invite everyone to have a closer look at our concept to see how we can accelerate innovation together at an even faster pace.”

A collaboration of experts and corporates from various disciplines

Kirmaci continues: “With great support of corporates such as Acredia, Andritz, Kurier, OeKB, the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, the Austrian Sportsbetting Company, Palfinger, the Austrian Post, Raiffeisen Informatik, Raiffeisen Landesbank NÖ-Wien, T-Mobile, Uniqa, Volksbank, Wien Energie and Wüstenrot we were able to invite 52 outstanding startups to Vienna. We now have a few more weeks of intensive preparation ahead of us, until we can finally welcome the startups to their new base at WeXelerate for the next four months.”

“weXelerate stands for the collaboration of experts and corporates from various disciplines to push digital innovation in Austria to the next level. I’d like to especially thank Hyve, Hackabu, WhatAVenture and Wirz for their essential contributions to the present success of our growing organization. Furthermore, I would like to put attention to our many mentors who are providing insight and knowledge to the startups with their expertise and network”, adds Stephan Jung, Director of Programs and managing partner of weXelerate.

Elevatry: Münchner KI-Startup holt 3 Mio. Euro Pre-Seed

System of Initiative
