Das Salzburger Startup Typs arbeitete mit Original+ mit AI-Hilfe am perfekten Ski. Dafür gab es Awards und prominente Investoren. Doch nun folgte der Konkurs.
Wie sieht der perfekte Ski aus? Für das Startup Typs mit Sitz im Salzburger Bergheim lag die Antwort seit der Gründung 2016 auf der Hand: Er muss individuell angepasst sein. Die Marke Original+ sollte das in “Weltcup-Qualität” schaffen – und zwar mit Unterstützung Künstlicher Intelligenz. Kund:innen mussten ein paar biometrische Daten eingeben und Angaben zu ihrem Fahrstil machen, dann sollte der AI-Algorithmus den perfekten Ski errechnen, der danach produziert wurde. Es ging dabei laut Gründer Siegfried Rumpfhuber um nicht weniger als 1.800 mögliche Kombinationen.
Awards für Original+ und Gschwandtner als prominenter 2 Minuten 2 Millionen-Investor
Mit diesem Konzept sorgte das Startup nicht nur in der Ski-Nation Österreich für Aufsehen. 2018 und 2019 holte es sich mit den Original+-Skiern jeweils internationale Sportartikel-Awards von ISPO. 2021 wurde das Startup von der Wirtschaftskammer (WKO) als “Born Global Champion” ausgezeichnet. Schon im Jahr davor, 2020 brachte ein Auftritt in der Show 2 Minuten 2 Millionen Florian Gschwandtner und seine Runtastic-Co-Founder mit der Beteiligungsgesellschaft 8eyes als prominente Investoren an Bord. Zu diesen gesellte sich damals auch Tractive-Gründer Michael Hurnaus mit seiner Hornet Ventures – der brutkasten berichtete damals von der letztlich 250.000 Euro großen Kapitalrunde.
Konkursantrag: Unklar, ob Marke weiterverwertet wird
Doch im Juni brachte Typs einen Konkursantrag beim Landesgericht Salzburg ein, wie der brutkasten nun erfuhr. Eine Fortführung der aktuellen GmbH ist somit ausgeschlossen, eine Weiterführung der Marke Original+ nach der Verwertung jedoch denkbar. Eine Mail-Anfrage des brutkasten zu den Hintergründen der Insolvenz und etwaigen Plänen mit der Marke blieb bislang unbeantwortet – sollte eine Antwort einlangen, wird diese ergänzt. Auch auf den Seiten der Kreditschutzverbände KSV1870 und AKV liegen keine Detailinformationen zur Insolvenz vor. Die Website des Startups ist jedenfalls aktuell nicht abrufbar.
