Das Wiener Neustädter Startup Doing Circular – ehemals Plasticpreneur – arbeitet seit zwei Jahren an einer Maschine, die Kunststoff Recycling im Kleinformat ermöglicht, um daraus wieder einfache Alltagsgegenstände herzustellen. Seit einem halben Jahr wird das Team durch den Technologieinkubator des Landes Niederösterreich accent unterstützt.
1100 Einreichung aus 108 Ländern
Wie am Freitagnachmittag bekannt wurde, konnte Doing Circular für seine nachhaltige Technolologie und Geschäftsidee einen weltweit ausgeschriebenen UNIDO-Award für sich gewinnen.
Für den prestigeträchtigen Award für innovativen Ideen im Zeichen der Corona-Krise und widerstandfähige Industrien haben sich laut accent rund 1100 Projekte aus 108 Ländern beworben. Bei der Preisverleihung wurden die Sieger der vier ausgeschriebenen Kategorien bekanntgegeben, wobei das Startup die Kategorie “Resilient Industries and Infrastructure” für sich entscheiden konnte.
Die Gewinner wurden von einer internationalen Expertenjury ermittelt und kamen neben Österreich aus Italien, Singapur und Nigeria.
Im Zuge der Coronakrise nahm das Startup “Face Shields” in sein Repertoire auf. Das verschaffte dem jungen Social Startup einen massiven Push. So konnte das Team und der Umsatz verdoppelt werden – der brutkasten berichtete.
“In Zeiten einer globalen Krise und zusammenbrechenden Supply Chains konnten wir in den vergangenen Monaten mit unserer Gesichtsschilder-Produktion in mehr als zehn Ländern mit über 30.000 produzierten Stück unterstützen”, erklärt Doing Circular Gründer Sören Lex. “Dadurch wurden außerdem mehr als 100 Jobs geschaffen. Die simplen, raschen, dezentralen und schnell skalierbaren Produktions- und Einsatzmöglichkeiten konnten damit optimal umgesetzt werden”

The startup’s solutions are particularly relevant to the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries.
