Klein und kompakt ist der “Hammer Lab35” des im August 2019 formell gegründeten Wiener Unternehmens Incus nicht (siehe Foto unten). Das ist bei dem Produkt – einem neuartigen Metall-3D-Drucker – und der Zielgruppe – der fertigenden Industrie – aber wohl auch nicht notwendig.
Mit diesem ging man nun keine zwei Jahre nach der Firmengründung in der Seestadt Aspern in Serie. Das erste Gerät hatte Incus bereits im März 2020 ausgeliefert. Im Hintergrund stehen freilich umfassende Forschungsarbeit und mehr als zehn Jahre Erfahrung in der Additiven Fertigung von Gründer und CEO Gerald Mitteramskogler. Zudem holte man sich ein nicht näher beziffertes Investment von der auf 3D-Druck spezialisierten Beteiligungsgesellschaft AM Ventures aus Deutschland.
Incus: erfolgreicher Start mit neuartigem Metall-3D-Drucker
Der Hammer Lab35 soll eine ökonomische Fertigungsweise sowohl zur Prototypen-Entwicklung, als auch Kleinserien-Produktion von Bauteilen ermöglichen. Dabei soll das Gerät, das auf den Prozess Lithography-based Metal Manufacturing (LMM) setzt, eine Reihe von Vorteilen gegenüber den anderen Produkten am Markt haben. Man biete Herstellern überragende Qualität in Auflösung, Oberflächenästhetik und mechanischen Eigenschaften für Bauteile in der Größe von weniger als 200 Gramm. Das sei “eine bisher im Metall 3D-Druck unerreichte Kombination”. Die Druckgeschwindigkeit beträgt bis zu 100 cm3/h, die Auflösung 35 µm.

Nachdem zwei Hammer Lab35-Metall-3D-Drucker bereits am Institut für strategische Technologie- und Edelmetalle der Universität Pforzheim und dessen Spin-Off-Unternehmen Metshape in Betrieb sind, sollen nun schon bald weitere Geräte ausgeliefert werden, wobei das Feedback der ersten Nutzer laufend eingearbeitet wird.

Geschäftsführer Mitteramskogler kommentiert: “Obwohl 2020 ein äußerst herausforderndes Jahr gewesen ist, haben wir bei Incus mit unseren Kunden großartig zusammen gearbeitet”. Man habe bewiesen, dass LMM das Potential hat, sowohl die Leistung kleinerer und mittlerer Hersteller zu steigern – und dies bei reduzierten Kosten, als auch Bauteile mit komplexen Geometrien zu verwirklichen. “Wir schätzen das Vertrauen und die Geduld unserer ersten Kunden sehr hoch, denn dadurch haben wir ebenso unser Produkt und unser Unternehmen entwickeln können. Natürlich haben wir bis zur Größenordnung Massenproduktion noch einen gewissen Weg vor uns. Doch wir brennen darauf diesen unseren Weg 2021 fort zu setzen”, so der CEO.
