Immer mehr Menschen entscheiden sich für eine rein pflanzliche Ernährung. Schätzungen der Statistik Austria leben in Österreich mittlerweile mehr als 100.000 Menschen vegan und rund 800.000 rein vegetarisch. Zudem gibt es noch die wachsende Zahl an Flexitarier:innen, die einfach nur weniger Fleisch essen wollen. Vom wachsenden Markt für pflanzliche Produkte möchten hierzulande sowohl österreichische Food-Startups, aber auch Player aus dem Ausland profitieren. Dazu zählen beispielsweise Planted aus der Schweiz oder BettaF!sh aus Deutschland.
Heura mittlerweile in 22 Ländern
Mit Heura betritt nun ein neuer größerer Player aus dem Ausland den österreichischen Markt für rein pflanzliche Produkte. Das spanische Startup wurde ursprünglich 2017 in einem Co-Working Space in Barcelona gegründet, mit dem Ziel, nachhaltigere und gesündere pflanzenbasierte Fleischprodukte zu entwickeln. Das Startup hat sich dabei laut eigenen Angaben auf “mediterranen Fleischersatzprodukte” spezialisiert. Mittlerweile zählt Heura zu den am schnellsten wachsenden Unternehmen im plant-based Bereich und ist in mehr als 22 Ländern vertreten, darunter Spanien, Italien, Großbritannien, der Schweiz, Frankreich, Portugal, Deutschland, Singapur, Hongkong, Kanada. Das Unternehmen hat laut Crunchbase mittlerweile 54.9 Millionen US-Dollar an Risikokapital aufgestellt – im Vergleich dazu Planted über 125 Millionen US-Dollar.
Kooperation mit Rewe Group
Für die Expansion nach Österreich kooperiert Heura exklusiv mit der Rewe Group. Kund:innen ab sofort in allen Billa und Billa Plus Märkten österreichweit sowie in der rein pflanzlichen Billa Pflanzilla Filiale in Wien drei Produkte des Startups kaufen. Dazu zählen plant-based Chorizo sowie plant-based Hühnerfilet Natur und Mediterran. Die Produkte enthalten laut dem Startup nur ein Drittel des Fettgehalts bei der gleichen Menge an Eiweiß. Die plant-based Chorizo hat eine um mehr als 175 Prozent höhere Proteindichte als tierische Versionen, so das Startup in einer Aussendung.

The startup’s solutions are particularly relevant to the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries.
