+++ Important information +++ The Global Incubator Network (GIN) is closely monitoring the situation and development regarding COVID-19 and will keep founders up to date about any necessary changes in the program scheduled for September 2020. The Global Incubator Network (GIN) is looking for Austrian later-stage startups from all verticals for our next goAsia program in South Korea. Together with AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA GIN supports founders in their internationalization to the world’s most innovative startups hubs.

goSeoul 2020 is a unique 1-week acceleration program for Austrian startups that wants to cross borders and aim to internationalize to Asia, especially to South Korea. The program allows first insights into the Korean market and connects the startups with relevant stakeholders and experts of the local startup community.

Also, GIN refunds 80% of all expenses including travel and accommodation costs up to max. € 7,000 per startup.

goSeoul 2020 | Hard Facts

REQUIREMENTS:

  • OPEN to all Verticals
  • Austrian later-stage startup (beyond PoC and seed-stage)
  • established in the last 7 years
  • raised at least seed-stage investment
  • unique product/solution & working prototype / MVP
  • a proven business model with traction (clients, revenue)
  • interest in connecting to relevant stakeholders (investors, corporates)
  • looking to develop further internationally with a focus on South Korea/Asia

APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS

Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, the program scheduled for September might be conducted online. In this case, all selected startups will have valuable workshops and seminars based in Vienna as well as 1:1 online meetings with relevant stakeholders (investors/corporates based in South Korea). Currently GIN is in close contact with its international partners and it will keep founders up to date about any necessary changes in the goSeoul 2020 program.

    Pre-selection

    The GIN-Team informs all applicants whether or not they are selected for the Online Pitch Event via e-mail. The pre-selected startups will receive an e-mail with all log-on details.

    Online Pitch Event

    May 26, 2020 | 9.00 am – 11.00 am (CET)

    The pre-selected startups have 3 minutes to pitch in English online followed by a short Q&A session by the jury of national an international experts. The Online Pitch will take place on the 26th of May 2020 from 9.00 am to 11.00 am. (Please block this time in your calendar preliminary!)

  • STEP 4

    Final Decision – Congratulations!

    within a week after the Oline Pitch Event

    After the Online Pitch the jury will select the goSeoul 2020 finalists. The selected startups for goSeoul 2020 will receive an e-mail with next steps from the GIN-Team latest by the end of May!

31 Milliarden Euro ist das Portfolio der Staatsholding Öbag aktuell ungefähr wert. Diese teilen sich auf nur sieben Beteiligungen auf: Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft BIG (100 Prozent), Post AG (52,8 Prozent), Verbund (51 Prozent), Casinos Austria (33,2 Prozent), OMV (31,5 Prozent), Telekom Austria und EuroTeleSites (jeweils 28,4 Prozent).

Arnoldner setzt sich einstimmig aus engerer Auswahl von neun Personen durch

Nachdem die Funktionsperiode der aktuellen Chefin Edith Hlawati bald endet, war die Holding zuletzt auf der Suche nach einem bzw. einer neuen CEO. Nach einem dreimonatigen Auswahlverfahren mit laut Öbag insgesamt 46 Bewerber:innen, von denen neun in die engere Auswahl kamen, traf der Aufsichtsrat nun eine Entscheidung – einstimmig, wie betont wird. Neuer Chef wird demnach Thomas Arnoldner, aktuell noch stellvertretender CEO der Telekom Austria AG. Er war zuletzt acht Jahre im Telekom-Austria-Vorstand, darunter von 2018 bis 2023 als CEO. Davor war er in verschiedenen anderen Führungspositionen in der Telekom-Branche tätig. Außerdem leitet er gemeinsam mit Keba-CEO Christoph Knogler die KI-Taskforce der Industriellenvereinigung.

„Besondere Verantwortung“

„Der Beste hat das Rennen gemacht. Für die Öbag, aber auch für die Republik und die Steuerzahler, ist das eine zukunftsweisende und erfolgversprechende Entscheidung. Sie soll der positiven Entwicklung des Wirtschaftsstandorts Österreich bestmöglich dienen“, kommentiert Öbag-Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender Günther Ofner. Arnoldner selbst betont, er gehe die Aufgabe mit großem Respekt an. „Die Öbag verwaltet nicht ihr eigenes Geld, sondern Vermögen der Republik und damit des Steuerzahlers. Daraus entsteht eine besondere Verantwortung. Aus acht Jahren im Vorstand eines großen, börsennotierten Infrastrukturunternehmens weiß ich, was Kapitalmarkt und Mitaktionäre von einem verlässlichen Kernaktionär erwarten – und was ein starker Standort von seiner Infrastruktur braucht. Die Öbag soll als Eigentümer aktiv gestalten und unabhängig entscheiden. So stärken wir unsere Beteiligungen und damit den Industrie- und Energiestandort Österreich“, so der neue Chef.

Neue Strategie auf Industriestrategie-Basis „mit Leben erfüllen“

Und wie kann man sich diese aktive Gestaltung vorstellen? Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender Ofner umreißt: „Hauptaufgaben werden sein, die neue Öbag-Strategie im Einklang mit der Industriestrategie des Bundes mit Leben zu erfüllen und die Öbag, die Staatsbeteiligungen mit einem Portfoliowert von 31 Milliarden Euro verwaltet, als Alleinvorstand weiterhin auf sachlicher und unabhängiger Basis erfolgreich zu führen, in guter Kooperation mit dem Aufsichtsrat.“

Aktivere Rolle der Öbag geplant

Die Öbag hat ihre neue Strategie im April dieses Jahrs vorgestellt, wie brutkasten berichtete. Ein Hintergrund von dieser, die, wie erwähnt, auch den Zielen der Industriestrategie 2035 der Bundesregierung dienen soll, ist auch der Wechsel der Öbag-Zuständigkeit vom Finanz- ins Wirtschaftsministerium. Wirtschaftsminister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer sprach in diesem Zusammenhang von einer „geänderten Erwartungshaltung“ und dem Wunsch nach einer aktiveren Rolle der Staatsholding. Dabei zeigte er sich auch offen für weitere Beteiligungen – ein, wie brutkasten damals analysierte, schwer umsetzbares Unterfangen.

Starke Abhängigkeit von Politik

Ob es Arnoldner in der Rolle tatsächlich gelingt, Akzente zu setzen und die „aktivere Rolle“ über jene als Dividendenbringer des Bunds hinaus, Realität werden zu lassen, hängt letztlich nicht nur von ihm, sondern auch von politischen Entscheidungen ab. Allein ein Anteilsverkauf durch die Öbag muss etwa einstimmig im Ministerrat beschlossen werden.
