Live Interview with Israeli Nobel Laureate Dan Shechtman, 12.11.2020, 2 pm
Technological Entrepreneurship and Perseverance as Key to Way Out of This Crisis
Technological entrepreneurship has led to a lot of prosperity in the developed world. Israeli Nobel laureate Dan Shechtman even sees it as the key to World peace. We will have the great pleasure to discuss with him how technological entrepreneurship can help us find the way out of the current crisis and future ones. You can join us live on November 12, 2020, at 2 pm. We will take selected questions from the chat.
Lessons from the ‘Startup Nation’
Prof. Shechtman is often described as Israel’s ‘father of entrepreneurship’ after he initiated the first entrepreneurship class at the Technion in Haifa, Israel’s MIT. This subsequently produced many of the multi-million- and multi-billion-dollar start-ups that made Israel the ‘start-up nation’. He will tell us what it takes, in his opinion, to foster technological entrepreneurship and how it can help us find the way out of the current crisis and future ones.
Success by Perseverance
When Prof. Shechtman made his discovery of quasicrystals back in 1982, he was scorned by important fellow scientists and even lost his job. It took him 12 years to receive the acknowledgement, but he never gave up. With this exceptional perseverance, he shifted a whole paradigm and in 2011 he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his finding. He will give us his insights on how perseverance can lead us through tough times like the ones we are currently in.
