Durch die Hütchen werden die Taxis ausgeschaltet. Die Aktivist:innen aus San Francisco gehen mit ihren Aktionen auf TikTok und Twitter viral – und sie fordern zum Nachmachen auf.

Robotaxis blockieren den Verkehr

Mit dem Ausschalten der Robotaxis wollen die Aktivist:innen auf falsch geparkte Fahrzeuge in San Francisco aufmerksam machen. Immer wieder blockieren Fahrzeuge den Verkehr in der kalifornischen Stadt, weil sie plötzlich nicht mehr funktionieren und mitten auf der Straße stehen bleiben.

Sogar einen Hund soll ein Taxi von Waymo diese Woche in San Franciso überfahren haben. 2018 wurde bereits ein Mensch von einem selbstfahrenden Uber-Taxi getötet. Kritiker:innen befürchten, dass es in Zukunft mehr tödliche Unfälle geben könnte, für die Robotaxis verantwortlich sind.

Bald noch mehr Robotaxis?

Die Hütchen-Aktionen sind auch politisch motiviert: Schon bald könnten die Anbieter von Robotaxi-Services Waymo und Cruise ihre Tätigkeit in San Franciso ausdehnen – mit noch mehr Fahrzeugen, die viele Stadtbewohner:innen ärgern. Nächste Woche soll es dazu eine Anhörung bei der zuständigen Behörde geben.

Gegen die neuen Robotaxis machen auch kalifornische Taxi-Organisationen mobil . Sie befürchten, dass ihnen die neuen, fahrerlosen Taxis ihren Job streitig machen.

Tire wear is the largest contributor to particulate pollution and kills vital ecosystems. There’s also no accountability when they block buses or first responders, and unlike human drivers can’t get ticketed for moving violations. And they refuse to share data with the public about incidents- forcing the city to scrape this dumb website to get an estimate. Cruise and Waymo do not deserve our trust. Why go through all this when we can just fund & expand public transit and paratransit like other cities? These cars are recording everyone without our consent- Cruise gives SFPD camera footage. Lives are saved when we remove the car, not just the driver. The lengths VCs and the auto industry will go to preserve & expand car dominance are shameless & unacceptable.
