Wie eine Umfrage des Instituts Market nun ergab, sind die Österreicher, was Kryptowährungen angeht, (noch) sehr skeptisch. Indessen wird spekuliert, dass Bulgarien einen Kurssturz verursachen könnte.
14 Prozent der Österreicher haben noch nie etwas von Bitcoin gehört. Das ergab nun eine Umfrage des Instituts Market, die von der APA zitiert wird. Vorbei geht die Entwicklung vor allem an Personen höheren Alters. Während im Durchschnitt vier Prozent der über 16-jährigen Österreicher bereits aktiv mit Kryptowährungen zu tun hatten, sie also gekauft oder gehandelt haben, liegt der Prozentsatz bei Personen über 50 Jahren nahe Null. In der Gruppe der 30 bis 49-jährigen sind hingegen bereits acht Prozent im Krypto-Bereich aktiv. Bei den unter 30-jährigen nur vier Prozent.
Generell hat sich das Interesse am Thema vergrößert. Rund 20 Prozent der Befragten geben an, an Kryptowährungen interessiert zu sein. Bei Männern bzw. jüngeren Personen ist das Interesse deutlich stärker ausgeprägt. Spannend: Obwohl also eigentlich nur ein Fünftel der Personen überhaupt an der Thematik interessiert ist, befürwortet fast ein Drittel – 31 Prozent – ein Bitcoin-Verbot. Allerdings nur ein Drittel jener Befragten, die auch eine Antwort gaben. Denn rund ein Drittel aller Befragten traute sich keine Einschätzung zu. So auch bei den Gründen für die Skepsis. Dass Bitcoin die Lage für Betrüger erleichtert, befürchten etwa 50 Prozent jener, die eine Antwort gaben. 46 Prozent glauben, dass Kryptowährungen einen Vorteil bei illegalen Geschäften bringen.
Verursacht Bulgarien einen Kurssturz?
Indessen stieg der Bitcoin-Kurs zwischenzeitlich über 17.000 US-Dollar (und fiel dann wieder um einige Hundert Dollar). Spekulationen zur weiteren Kursentwicklung beflügelt momentan Bulgarien. Das südosteuropäische Land hat vor einigen Monaten bei einem Schlag gegen Zollbetrüger 210.000 Bitcoins erbeutet – das entspricht momentan über drei Milliarden Euro. Damit könnte das Land 20 Prozent seiner Staatsschulden tilgen, schreibt die deutsche “Welt”. Allerdings sei unklar, ob die Behörden überhaupt über die nötigen Private Keys zu den beschlagnahmten Wallets verfügen. Käme es tatsächlich zum kurzfristigen Verkauf der großen Menge, wäre jedenfalls ein heftiger Kurssturz zu erwarten.
