A1 und ÖBB Rail Cargo Group machen Güterzüge “intelligent”
Im Güterzugbereich gibt es in Sachen Digitalisierung noch einiges an Potenzial. Das will die Rail Cargo Group (RCG) der ÖBB nun gemeinsam mit A1 im Projekt SmartCargo ausschöpfen.
Etwa ein Fünftel des Güterverkehrsaufkommens lief in Österreich 2017 laut Statistik Austria über die Schiene. Dabei ging es um ein Volumen von mehr als 100 Millionen Tonnen. Naturgemäß ist der Güterzug vor allem bei mittleren und längeren Strecken das Transportmittel der Wahl. Nicht nur in Österreich, sondern in ganz Europa zählt die Rail Cargo Group (RCG) der ÖBB mit einem aktuellen Jahresumsatz von 2,2 Milliarden Euro und jährlich rund 115 Millionen beförderten Tonnen zu den führenden Unternehmen in der Sparte. Diese Position will man nun in einer Kooperation mit A1 mit dem Projekt SmartCargo ausbauen.
In Sachen Digitalisierung gibt es im Güterzug-Bereich noch einiges an Potenzial. SmartCargo soll nun für “intelligente” Güterzüge sorgen. Spezielle Telematik an den RCG-Waggons soll unter anderem umfassenden Transportinformationen für Kundinnen liefern und eine deutlich verbesserte und effizientere Wartungskoordination ermöglichen. Konkret sollen bis Ende 2020 RCG-Güterwagen über Positionserkennung, Bewegungssensorik und Stoßerkennung verfügen. Zusätzlich wird von A1 und RCG eine gemeinsame IT-Plattform entwickelt. Im Rahmen erster Tests werden aktuell rund 300 Wagen mit SmartCargo ausgestattet. in weiterer Folge sollen an rund 13.700 RCG-Waggons SmartCargo Devices angebracht werden.
SmartCargo: Integration über Unternehmensgrenzen hinaus
Dabei liefert der Positionssensor die genauen GPS-Koordinaten des Wagens in vordefinierten Intervallen. Ein weiterer Sensor sorgt unabhängig vom GPS-Empfang für zuverlässige Bewegungserkennung, während der 3D-Beschleunigungssensor zur Stoßerkennung und Überwachung des Transports empfindlicher Güter dient. Darüber hinaus kann das System mittels Geofencing eine Sofortmeldung beim Überschreiten vorab festgelegter Zonen, wie etwa Landesgrenzen, senden. Bei fehlender Netzabdeckung zur Datenübertragung verfügt die Hardware außerdem über eine SMS-Rückfallebene. Über die IT-Plattform wird auch die Integration von Fremdwagen, die im Zugverband sind, jedoch nicht im Eigentum der RCG stehen, möglich sein. (PA/red)

The startup’s solutions are particularly relevant to the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries. Through the aws program, the team not only secured financial support but also made valuable connections in the Austrian startup scene.

One of the most significant benefits of the aws First Incubator’s special international call is the interdisciplinary and international exchange.
