Wie die Tageszeitung "Die Presse" berichtet, wurden die Betreiber der Plattform Optioment von der Finanzmarktaufsicht (FMA) bei der Staatsanwaltschaft Wien angezeigt. Die Österreicher stehen in Verdacht, damit ein Bitcoin-Pyramidenspiel betrieben zu haben.
Die Plattform Optioment mit Sitz in Costa Rica warb über mehrere Monate hinweg intensiv in Krypto-Foren und auf Social Media. Potenziellen Kunden wurden riesige Renditen für Bitcoin-Einlagen versprochen, die über “Arbitrage-Trading” hereinkommen sollten. Zudem gab es großzügige Prämien für das Anwerben neuer Kunden. Zunächst erfolgten die versprochenen Auszahlungen (in Bitcoin). Seit etwa zwei Monaten wurde jedoch kein Geld mehr ausgezahlt, wie die Tageszeitung “Die Presse” unter Berufung auf die Finanzmarktaufsicht (FMA) berichtet. Nun hat FMA der Staatsanwaltschaft Wien eine Sachverhaltsdarstellung übermittelt. Einiges deutet auf ein Pyramidenspiel-System hin – es gilt die Unschuldsvermutung.

Grund für die Sachverhaltsdarstellung sei, dass es in den vergangenen Wochen zahlreiche Beschwerden gegeben hätte, sagt FMA-Sprecher Klaus Grubelnik gegenüber “Die Presse”. Der Großteil der Kunden von Optioment scheint aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum zu kommen. “Die Betreiber waren offenbar sehr breit aufgestellt bei der Akquisition von Kunden”, sagt Grubelnik, der keine genauen Angaben zur Zahl der Beschwerden macht. Laut “Die Presse” sind drei der Gründer der Plattform aus Österreich. Die Zeitung beruft sich dabei auf einen Optioment-Investor, der nicht namentlich genannt wird. Er habe die Gründer etwa bei einer Veranstaltung in der Pyramide Vösendorf – welch eine Ironie – live erlebt.
Spuren im Internet gelöscht
Sehr wohl namentlich genannt wird Bitcoin Austria-Präsident Johannes Grill, der sich dem Pyramidenspiel-Verdacht anschließt: “Wir vermuten, dass nie Trading stattgefunden hat, sondern die Nutzer mit dem Geld neuer Investoren ausbezahlt wurden wie bei solchen Systemen üblich.” Auffällig: Die Optioment-Website ist nicht erreichbar, also scheinbar offline genommen worden. Auch Videos und Foreneinträge der Plattform wurden laut “Die Presse” in den vergangenen Tagen großflächig gelöscht. Erst vor wenigen Wochen war mit Bitconnect ein riesiges mutmaßliches Krypto-Pyramidenspiel zusammengebrochen.
