Wird die angepeilte Marktkapitalisierung erreicht, wäre es – gemessen an der Bewertung – der größte Börsengang am britischen Aktienmarkt seit mehreren Jahren. Offiziell bestätigen wollte das Unternehmen die Zahl nicht.
Deliveroo ist zuletzt im Jänner bei einer Finanzierungsrunde mit 7 Mrd. Dollar bewertet worden – was eine Verdoppelung gegenüber vorangegangenen Investitionsrunde aus 2019 war. Diese war von Amazon als Lead-Investor angeführt worden.
Nicht schlecht für ein Unternehmen, das noch kein Geschäftsjahr mit einem Nettogewinn abgeschlossen hat. Die im vergangenen Dezember öffentlich gewordenen Geschäftszahlen für 2019 zeigten einen Verlust von knapp 318 Mrd. britischen Pfund (umgerechnet rund 370 Mrd. Euro) – womit er sich gegenüber dem Jahr zuvor um rund ein Drittel ausgeweitet hatte. Der Umsatz dagegen stieg 2019 um 62 Prozent auf 772 Mrd. Pfund (896 Mrd. Euro).
Bei der Ankündigung des Börsengangs gab Deliveroo nun bekannt, im Pandemie-Jahr 2020 gewachsen zu sein – und davon “mehr als sechs Monate auf der operativen Ebene profitabel” gewesen zu sein.
Zur Einordung der geplanten Bewertung: Der zweite große, an der Londoner Börse notierte Essenslieferdienst – Just Eat Takeaway.com, zu dem etwa Lieferando gehört – ist aktuell mit knapp 14 Mrd. Dollar etwas höher bewertet. Der in Frankfurt notierte deutsche Konkurrent Delivery Hero – in Österreich unter der Marke Mjam aktiv – ist an der Börse derzeit sogar umgerechnet rund 26 Mrd. Dollar wert. Der letzte größere Börsengang in London war jener des Kosmetik- und Konsumgüterhändlers The Hut Group, der am ersten Handelstag im vergangenen September einn Börsenwert von 7 Mrd. Dollar erreichte.
Das 2013 gegründete Deliveroo ist nach eigenen Angaben in 800 Städten in 12 Ländern aktiv. Aus Deutschland hat sich das Unternehmen 2019 zurückgezogen, in Österreich ist es ebenfalls nicht aktiv. Das Netzwerk des Unternehmens umfasst 140.000 Restaurants, 111.000 Fahrer liefern Bestellungen aus. Das genaue Datum des Börsengangs ist noch nicht bekannt.
