Call: GO HONG KONG 2023 is now open until June 11th

The Global Incubator Network Austria (GIN), in cooperation with AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA, is looking for Austrian mid- or later-stage startups that aim to enter Hong Kong with: GO HONGKONG 2023 from November 8th until 17th, 2023. The call is open until June 11th.

PART I | GO HONG KONG ONBOARDING: FLEXIBLE

Get first-hand insights into the Hong Kong market and benefit from a flexible digital onboarding to prepare your internationalization strategy. The selected startups will receive 3h of free and individual IP coaching sessions and exclusive unlimited access to our GIN video masterclasses with valuable expert tips for their market entry. At the kick-off event in Vienna on October 10^th you will receive first market insights and valuable last-minute preparation tips for your physical presence in Hong Kong, while getting to know the GO HONG KONG startup batch.

PART II | GO HONG KONG PHYSICAL: EXPANSION TRAVEL

Part II of GO HONG KONG 2023 is a 2-week ecosystem tour in Hongkong from November 8^th to 17^th, 2023 and offers the selected startups 1:1 business meetings organized by AußenwirtschaftsCenter Hongkong, as well as the opportunity to generate international leads (corporates, potential clients, business partners, etc.) at customized pitch and networking events. In addition, startups can benefit from further on-site activities, e.g. StartmeupHK Festival (see further information below). For the phyiscal trip to Hong Kong with a breakout session to Shenzhen in November 2023, GIN covers 90% of all expenses including flight and accommodation costs up to EUR 20,000.- per startup.

THE MAIN EVENT OF GO HONG KONG 2023

The StartmeupHK Festival is one of the largest startup events in Asia organized by InvestHK. The week-long extravaganza of startup conferences featuring keynotes with renowned speakers, startup village, services marketplaces, job fair and business matching will be open to attendees across the globe. The core event organisers will bring you the latest industry developments in smart city, retail tech, digital lifestyle, global startup trends and insights from the most promising startups, investors and corporates and many more!

REQUIREMENTS

THE PROGRAM GO HONG KONG 2023 IS MOST SUITABLE FOR STARTUPS MEETING THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Verticals: Smart City Solutions (AI, PropTech, Transport & Mobility, Energy & Utilities), Hospitality & Tourism, FoodTech, HealthTech, AI/Metaverse
Austrian mid- or later-stage startup (beyond PoC and seed stage)
Established in the last 7 years (no k.o. criterion)
Raised at least seed-stage investment
Unique product/solution
Working prototype/MVP
A proven business model with traction (clients, revenue)
Interest in connecting to relevant stakeholders (corporates, business partners)
Looking to develop further internationally with a focus on the Greater Bay Area/Asia

Online Pitch Event | June 23, 2023:

The GIN-Team informs all applicants whether or not they are chosen for the Online Pitch via e-mail latest on June 19^th, 2023. The pre-selected startups will receive an e-mail with all log-in details for the Online Pitch on the 23^rd of June, 2023 as well as a 10-minute time-slot. Each startup has 3 minutes to pitch in English followed by a short Q&A session by the jury of national an international GIN-partners.

Final Decision – Congratulations!

After the Online Pitch the jury will select the GO HONG KONG 2023 finalists. The selected startups for GO HONG KONG 2023 will receive an e-mail with the next steps from the GIN-Team latest within a week after the Online Pitch.

fonio.ai: Wiener KI-Startup eröffnet neues Office in Barcelona – auch Büros in Übersee geplant

Es ist bisher ein geschäftiges Jahr für das Wiener Startup fonio.ai. Im Juni schloss man eine Seed-Runde über 14,6 Millionen Euro ab – angeführt von 20VC, bei einer Bewertung von 120 Millionen Euro. Es folgte die Verkündung, die 10-Millionen-Dollar-ARR-Marke (Annual Recurring Revenue) geknackt zu haben – siehe hier – und dass man Pläne verfolge, neue Standorte zu eröffnen.

fonio-CEO: „Emotionaler Schritt“

Das Startup, das von Daniel Keinrath (CEO) und Matthias Gruber (CTO) gegründet wurde, entwickelt KI-Agenten für KMU, für die telefonische Erreichbarkeit geschäftskritisch ist. Kern ist ein Orchestration-Layer, der verschiedene KI-Modelle in Echtzeit mit der Unternehmenssoftware koordiniert. Nun tut man das auch aus Barcelona heraus.

Gründer Keinrath beschreibt die Eröffnung gegenüber brutkasten wie folgt: „Das ist ein sehr emotionaler Schritt für uns. Dieser Monat wird der erste, in dem voraussichtlich über 50 Prozent von unserem Umsatz bereits aus Non-DACH-Märkten kommt. Das Büro in Barcelona wird unser Hub für Italien, Frankreich und Spanien. Das Team für diese Märkte besteht schon aus über 15 Personen und wird wahrscheinlich bis Ende des Jahres auf 30 anwachsen. Wir suchen tatsächlich schon nach dem nächsten Büro“, sagt er.

Polen, Brasilien und England

Zusätzlich zu Barcelona sind auch Ausweitungen nach u.a. London, Warschau, München, Berlin, Amsterdam, New York und sogar nach Brasilien geplant: „Grundsätzlich expandieren wir unabhängig von Büros in Länder. Wir starten damit, dass wir top Leute aus den Ländern nach Wien (teils temporär) relocaten. Und wenn das Team dann groß genug wird, machen wir ein Büro auf“, erklärt Keinrath.

Das Warschau-Office soll bereits innerhalb der nächsten beiden Wochen eröffnet werden, gefolgt von Campinas (rund 100 Kilometer nordwestlich von São Paulo) Anfang November. London wird mit Dezember-Beginn anvisiert und New York wahrscheinlich in ersten Quartal 2027. „Für München, Berlin und Amsterdam“, so Keinrath weiter, „haben wir noch keine genauen Pläne, weil wir da den Headcount zuerst aufbauen. Aber wir haben bereits aus allen Städten Hires.“
