GO TOKYO 2023 is the ideal preparation for Austrian mid – & later stage startups focusing microelectronics & semiconductors to take the next steps of their Japan-expansion. The program supports startups strategically (flexible onboarding, IP coaching, workshops, networking, 1:1 business meetings, etc.) and financially (travel grant of up to 20,000 EUR) to give them the best expierence during a 2-week ecosystem tour in Tokyo including a breakout session to Kansai region from December 4th to 15th, 2023.
This Year, the GO TOKYO program takes place during TechBIZKON, a cross-border startup event featuring top speakers from around the globe, and Innovation Leaders Summit, Asia’s largest open innovation & matchmaking conference. The selected startups will also have the unique opportunity to participate at SEMICON Japan, an international exhibition offering the latest insights into Japan’s largest semiconductor supply chain.

PART I | GO TOKYO 2023 ONBOARDING: FLEXIBLE
Get first-hand insights into the japanese market and benefit from a flexible digital onboarding to prepare your internationalization strategy. The selected startups will receive 3h of free and individual IP coaching sessions and exclusive unlimited access to our GIN video masterclasses with valuable expert tips for their market entry. At the kick-off event in Vienna you will also valuable last-minute preparation tips for your physical presence in Tokyo, while getting to know the GO TOKYO 2023 startup batch.
PART II | GO TOKYO 2023 PHYSICAL: EXPANSION TRAVEL
Part II of GO TOKYO 2023 is a 2-week ecosystem tour in Tokyo from December 4th to 15th, 2023 and offers the selected startups 1:1 business meetings organized by AußenwirtschaftsCenter Tokyo, as well as the opportunity to generate international leads (corporates, potential clients, business partners, etc.) at customized pitch and networking events. In addition, startups can benefit from further on-site activities, e.g. TechBIZKON (see further information below). For the phyiscal trip to Tokyo incl. a breakout session to the Kansai region, GIN covers 90% of all expenses including flight and accommodation costs up to EUR 20,000.- per startup.
THE MAIN EVENT OF GO TOKYO 2023
TechBIZKON is a cross-border startup event with panel discussions featuring top speakers from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Japan as well as startup-pitches from startups of all participating member countries. This year’s TechBIZKON is focused on Microelectronics & Semiconductors. The general aim of our event is to connect our startup-ecosystems, provide 1-on-1 meetings and networking opportunities, as well as a voting competitions.
REQUIREMENTS
THE PROGRAM GO TOKYO 2023 IS MOST SUITABLE FOR STARTUPS MEETING THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Vertical: Microelectronics & Semiconductor
- Austrian mid- or later-stage startup (beyond PoC and seed stage)
- Established in the last 7 years (no k.o. criterion)
- Raised at least seed-stage investment
- Unique product/solution
- Working prototype/MVP
- A proven business model with traction (clients, revenue)
- Interest in connecting to relevant stakeholders (corporates, business partners)
- Looking to develop further internationally with a focus on Japan/Asia

1. Application on aws Connect | latest by August 6th, 2023:

2. Online Pitch Event | July 25th, 2023:
The GIN-Team informs all applicants whether or not they are chosen for the Online Pitch via e-mail. The pre-selected startups will receive an e-mail with all log-in details for the Online Pitch on the 25th of July (09.00 – 11.00 am) as well as a 10-minute time-slot. Each startup has 3 minutes to pitch in English followed by a short Q&A session by the jury of national an international GIN-partners. Please block this event in your calendar preliminary!
3. Final Decision – Congratulations!
After the Online Pitch the jury will select the GO TOKYO 2023 finalists. The selected startups for GO TOKYO 2023 will receive an e-mail with the next steps from the GIN-Team latest within a week after the Online Pitch.
